Calgary Flames win 2-0 against Minnesota Wild

Elias Lindholm scored two goals last night.   Even though the Flames were outshot 31- 20 in the game they played extremely well. Gaudreau had two assists and continued his point streak against the Wild. Smith played really well in the game and made very key saves. Smith gets a shutout and gets the 38th shutout of his career. He has improved 5-0 in his last five games. The Flames have now won four in a row. The Flames are now first in the Pacific Division and they are 18-9-2 and improved to 13-2 when scoring the first goal of the game. Smith made most of his key saves during the Wild’s power-play. Hopefully, they can make it five in a row on Saturday against the Nashville Predators. Flames have been consistent throughout the season and during the game which helped them a lot. Mikael Backlund was placed on injured reserve after the open ice hit by Matt Dumba of the Wild. Ryan Lomberg retaliated against Dumba which lead to a Wild’s power-play. Lomberg gets suspended one game because it was an instigation.  An instigation is when there are less than five minutes left in the game and there is a fight. Coach Bill Peters gets fined $10,000 because of the instigation.  Backlund will not be able to play against the Predators on Saturday or the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. IMG_1864
