Although The Flames lost Backlund to injury, Mark Giordano and Ryan Lomberg to two-game suspensions they still won the game. Oliver Kylington scores the first goal of his NHL career as well as an assist. Also, Alan Quine who got called up by the Flames also scored a goal. This game determined who was going to be first in the West. The Flames prevailed and won 5-2. The Flames have now won five straight games and are first in the Western Conference. The Flames were missing there number two centre, Mikael Backlund but everyone else on the team stepped up. The Predators were missing a few key players like P.K. Subban, Filip Forsberg, Kyle Turris, and Viktor Arvidsson who are currently on injured reserve. The Flames scored a couple of goals after Predators turnovers. Smith made 25 saves and improved to 11-7-1. Smith has won six straight games after a rocky start to the season. The Flames improve to 14-2-0 when scoring the first goal of the game.
